If you want to people-watch as you enjoy your lunch, then Vincci SoMa is the place to head, given that its first-floor location, within the swanky Vincci SoMa Hotel, provides you with a front row view to the Salamanca crowds as they spend their way around the neighbourhood. The bar area has an ethnic feel to it, complete with bamboo details as well as the odd quirky touch, such as the slightly incongruous gumball machines, and is usually populated by foreign tourists and trendy media types that are staying in the hotel.
In contrast, the restaurant itself is an essay in minimalism, the white walls and furnishings contrast with the black clad waiters who glide through the restaurant. Since the hotel was bought out by the Vincci chain, the menu has undergone somewhat of a transformation, focusing more on traditional Mediterranean meat and fish dishes than the fusion style that was evident before. The high standard remains, however, with a great value degustación menu for €65 per person, allowing you to sample everything.
