Perhaps it’s the fact the crowds have some excess cash, maybe it’s just the buzz of being a hot new place to go out in Marrakech but the fact that New Feeling is way out in the Palmeraie doesn’t seem to deter anyone from going. It costs 100dh each way but since it has the reputation for being the best place in town and attracts a lot of the city’s cognoscenti it’s largely worth it (taxi drivers, without fail, recommend it as the place to be – but they would, wouldn’t they?). New Feeling attempts to pitch itself at an up-market crowd, and is in the same league as Jad Mahal and Theatro (with whom it competes for best venue in town). Tell-tale signs are the Lichtenstein and Haring prints on the walls, and the plethora of shirts and trousers as opposed to jeans and sneakers. The main dance-floor has a ritzy glass podium for the principal movers and shakers and space enough for anyone else who wants to join in. The crushed-glass bar is a nice touch though the prices aren’t quite so cool. There are lots of the obligatorily curved seats around the dance-floor and an upper gallery that’s normally fairly empty. If you are staying in the Palmeraie at one of the sophisticated villa/palace/kasbah hotels, then this is your best option for a late night drink.
