Kasbah du Toubkal

Kasbah du Toubkal, in the village of Imlil, is a wonderful kasbah outside Marrakech, nestled in the foothills of the High Atlas and is the gateway to climbing Mount Toubkal, the highest mountain in North Africa. Kasbah du Toubkal is a peaceful, rustic mountain retreat with respectable eco-friendly policies (collecting rubbish from local villages, recycling, filtering spring water), and part of the money they receive goes towards local community services such as public hammams and village ambulances. There is a range of different sleeping arrangements, from dorms and standard rooms to suites and self-catering-style apartments (with kitchen/living room/all mod-cons). Other amenities include a wonderful restaurant (bring your own alcohol if you want to drink), a hammam and plunge pool, and a panoramic roof terrace that looks out over tranquil villages and verdant valleys. Climbs and treks can be arranged through the Kasbah du Toubkal staff all with guides, cooks, mules, accommodation and drinks (non-alcoholic). It’s a beautiful way to spend a few days away from the hustle and bustle of the city, and a great place to start and end a Toubkal climb or other High Atlas walk.
