Villa Des Orangers
Blink and you’ll miss the unassuming entrance to Villa Des Orangers, one of the most highly regarded riads in Marrakech. Right on the bustling rue Sidi Mimoun, close to the Jemaa el Fna, and overlooking the Koutoubia Mosque, its location is unlikely, yet convenient. Once inside the doors of Villa Des Orangers, the heat and sweat of the outside world drifts away and your senses feast instead on the water channels full of floating rose petals, orange-treed courtyard, alcoves full of soft sofas and gently gurgling fountains. The rooms and suites are all spacious and stylish, with a sense of gentle sophistication, and the atmosphere is generally low-key, making it a major draw for well-to-do Europeans and the odd celebrity. A second extension in 2008 means there are now 27 rooms/suites, a larger garden, a third pool in a private riad composed of two apartments with a solarium and a winter lounge, a traditional Moroccan hammam and two massage rooms as well as a beauty treatment salon. There is also a second restaurant, another winter lounge and an outside pergola in the garden where meals can be served. Seriously refined.
