Beldi Country Club
The Beldi Country Club – a cross between a botanical wonderland and a country club retreat – is located about 6 kilometres or so from the Medina and it seems like a long way to eat when there are so many cafes in Marrakech but the place is so much more. Accessed through an expansive rose garden, the vast complex offers pools (including one for kids), a terrific hammam and spa, bar, artisan showroom (with courses for kids and adults), tennis courts – and even a hotel should you decide you want to stay longer. There are two restaurants, the Palmier Fou, which serves traditional Moroccan, or the Al Badia, which we’d recommend for its innovative and comprehensive menu, which includes ingredients like quail and fresh seafood. The preparation is simple and unpretentious, with an emphasis on local products and herbs and olive oil direct from the Beldi. Large picture windows give great views over to the Atlas Mountains.
