It’s an understandable impulse, on arriving in Marrakech, to head straight for the vibrantly chaotic embrace of the souks. And to then stagger out, seemingly days later, laden with goodies and ready to head back to the airport. But that would be to miss some of the best that the city has to offer, namely in Guéliz – the New Town. One such unmissable spot is maisonLAB, a contemporary home design shop run by New York interior designer, Martin Raffone. Bringing together furnishings and accessories that best exemplify Raffone’s two best-loved cities, New York and Marrakech, maisonLAB is a bold and bright, yet elegant store spread over two levels.
The selection on offer, which ranges from hand-woven rugs to kitchenware, has been carefully-curated by Raffone. And it’s also worth keeping an eye out for the maisonLAB custom designs, like the beautiful, handcrafted tables and chairs, many of which exemplify Raffone’s uniquely contemporary take on traditional Moroccan designs.
