Dar Tiskiwin
Dar Tiskiwin is one of the few private museums in Marrakech, the concept of Dutch anthropologist Bert Flint. A keen collector of Berber antiquities from rugs and tables to jewellery and clothing, he decided a few years ago to open up his private treasures to the public. They are housed in a typically labyrinthine riad, which still functions as his home. A permanent exhibition includes an imaginary ‘trail’ along the old nomadic caravan routes and offers information on – as well as cultural artefacts from – sub-Saharan tribes that are not much mentioned in writings or oral traditions, with the aim of preserving the cultures of these communities. The main exhibition info is in French but English handouts are available.
