Museum of Marrakech
Back in 1997 the government renovated this grandiose 20th-century house into one of the most impressive art galleries in Marrakech so the Museum of Marrakech is a dual attraction. There’s the building itself, which consists of a network of different-sized rooms that have been converted into show spaces, yet whose design – such as the immense UFO-style chandelier in the main hall – and decoration are absorbing. Then there are the exhibitions, all temporary, which focus on ‘heritage’ art in the central hall, and contemporary art in the douiria and hammam. There is also a neat little café just near the door
