Le Cintra is one of the older restaurants in Megeve, having originally opened in 1937. The current owners, Evelyne and Patrick Mourot, have managed to retain the original charm and cosy interior. The décor is what you might expect from the Alps with wooden walls, ceilings and tiled floors – but adding in brasserie touches like white linen table clothes, green leather banquettes and antique lamps. The bar has recently been renovated to provide a more sophisticated back drop to the oysters and champagne served there, after all this is Megève, darling. Chef Stephane Burnouf’s menu features traditional French mountain fare and makes use of local ingredients from rabbit and lamb to mushrooms and herbs. The wine list draws from both regional and French classics. For those who want to eat on the run they have recently opened an oyster bar in the main square for those who don’t minding eating in the snow.
