If you find yourself at the southern end of Ocean Drive at lunchtime, then the Pelican Café at the Pelican Hotel is the needle in the haystack. Here they are desperate to distinguish themselves from neighbouring restaurants on Ocean Drive that cook a few dishes and leave them out on display to fester all day.
rnAt Pelican Café they are looking for the slightly more sophisticated client. There is seating on the pavement, but the Pelican is best enjoyed at the tables just above street level in the day and early evening.
rnThe menu is Italian-orientated, with high-quality pastas, salads and sandwiches and caters well for vegetarians. The restaurant is open in the evening and has a smart interior with green and red leather booths.
rnIf the Pelican is full, then try the Cardozo, Cavalier or Leslie Café along the Drive.
