The Chesterfield Hotel was recently updated and extended over three buildings (incorporating the adjacent Lily and Leon) allowing it to fit in with the boutique hotels in Miami. So, where young professionals and long-legged models once loitered in slightly cramped surroundings, they now have room to roam. The Chesterfield Hotel is fairly popular, though pool-less, and the rooms, rendered in aluminium and mahogany, are well equipped.
Luxurious is not quite the word for the Chesterfield, but its black-and-white based post-Depression style lobby – though compact – does exude that impression. Visitors during the day should take a breakfast coffee and muffin onto the open porch to avoid the stampede of arriving and departing guests. As dusk falls, guests should take advantage of the fun Safari Bar and sit under stuffed animal heads. Like the Catalina and Whitelaw in the South Beach Group, guests enjoy free drinks for an hour in the evenings, as well as free rides to and from the airport and the deal-clinching potential of skateboard and scooter rentals.
