COMO Metropolitan Miami Beach
Waking up with a view of the ocean in a graceful, Art Deco hotel is one of the joys of a stay in Miami. The COMO Metropolitan Miami Beach provides this with aplomb. The decor here mixes shades of pastel greys and pinks with seafoam greens and plenty of light-enhancing white. And it artfully throws together vintage and contemporary sensibilities in the furnishings. Overall, it’s a hotel that gleams, from the polished marble to the chrome faucets.
The COMO Metropolitan Miami Beach has 74 luxurious rooms and suites. There are rainfall showers and deep soaking tubs, high-tech amenities, and views of either the ocean or the Miami skyline. For a longer stay (with a bigger budget) the COMO suite has its own pantry kitchen, dining and seating areas, and views out over the water from three sides of the penthouse.
But there are plenty of ways to soak up the luxury at the COMO Metropolitan Miami Beach, without staying in the most decadent suite. There’s the COMO Shambhala Urban Escape (aka the spa), which offers a full range of treatments. And, best of all, the chance to saunter on up to the rooftop hydrotherapy pool that looks out over the Atlantic. In fact, the spa is such a draw that non-guests vye for appointments as well.
The dining options, meanwhile, range from casual American and Mediterranean dishes enjoyed poolside to acclaimed modern American cuisine at Traymore from chef Juan Loaisiga. The latter is particularly renowned for its local, seasonal seafood, like Florida Snapper served with a white bean ragu. Or Garlic Key West Shrimp offered with plenty of grilled country bread to mop up the garlicky juices and whatever remains of the mouthwatering ajillo sauce. For something lighter (or more potent), the Traymore Gin Bar has a delectable bar menu of small bites and sharing plates to enjoy alongside the dozens of artisanal gins, beers, wines, and cocktails.
