The Townhouse’s strengths revolve around its relaxed atmosphere, its stark minimalist décor, and its roof terrace that makes all other hotels in Miami look shoddy. Nowhere else in Miami is there a jigsaw puzzle in the lobby, and nowhere else can guests sit on swings in the building’s porch. The hotel is overshadowed by the fabulous Setai in terms of pure extravagance, but the Townhouse’s style is to attract normal mortals who don’t need to spend a $1,000 a night in order to taste the best South Beach has to offer.
The Bond Street Lounge is the hotel’s resident basement bar, but the roof terrace is the place to enjoy an evening beverage, especially on a Friday. The downer is that the Townhouse does not have a pool, but this is when guests should take advantage of the fact that some hotels, including the Raleigh (the Raleigh’s lagoon pool is the top trump of Miami pools) welcome visitors to their pools as long as they order plenty of drinks and look good in a bikini. Otherwise there is the beach just 50 yards away.
