Hg2 : The Hedonist

Spiga (Italian for wheat), has been on South Beach for almost a decade, which makes it one of the venerable restaurants in Miami terms and means the food has continued to attract the customers long after the restaurant itself has became old news. Managed by owner Roberto Legrand, Spiga seats around 50 and welcomes anyone through the doors. The clean lines, white tablecloths and wooden bar make this is a very welcoming Italian. It is not quite in the same league as Escopazzo or Casa Tua because the menu is not as adventurous and, well, Spiga is not as ambitious as its Italian counterparts. But with a constantly changing and properly priced specials board as well as the staple pasta, risotto and fish dishes, Spiga is a coolly underestimated dining venue. Generally this is a popular spot for a date or a relaxing dinner, but this is a very down-to-earth restaurant where staff are always keen on cranking things up.
