Exploit is one of the summer institution kind of bars in Milan. Picturesquely positioned in the shadows of the ancient Colonne di San Lorenzo, here a democratic cross-section of Milan (i.e. everyone) spills out onto the large pavement terrace for cocktails at aperitivo time.
In winter, the prime spot is in the brown and cream canopied veranda with burners and bamboo grasses. And with a subtitle of ‘Drinks and Dinner’, the requisite restaurant fills most of the brown and cream striped indoor space, with a Chesterfield-style padded tan leather bar at the back.
Owned by the same duo as Living Bar, Fabio and Sebastian, its forte is in catering for a large crowd with quality cocktails and tasty aperitivo (and à la carte Sunday brunches). Its name comes from the previous bar here called ‘Pois’; with a working title of the ‘ex-pois’, it became Exploit – pronounced like (petit) pois – when it opened in 1999.
