Mag Cafè
Some people amble along the canals in Milan’s Navigli district for the romance; it is particularly beautiful at sunset when the last light of the day reflects off the water, slightly pink and perfect. Other people, meanwhile, come for the shops and restaurants that call this area home. But many come simply for the chance to nab a table at Mag Cafè. While Navigli is well-known for its bars and bustle, Mag Cafè stands out. Owners Flavio Angiolillo and Marco Russo used a little bit of speakeasy charm, a few antiques, and a big dollop of masterful mixology to create this chic bar.
Open throughout the day, Mag Cafè is a popular choice for refreshments whenever you happen to be passing through the district; there are coffees, juices and food to enjoy, not to mention plenty of relaxed, boho atmosphere to savour, all enhanced by the sedately jazzy music tinkling in the background, of course. But the early evening sees the joint at its best advantage; that’s when the cocktails come into play. The list changes, so it’s hard to say what exactly will be on the menu at any given time, but your best bet is chatting to the friendly, knowledgeable bartenders anyway. They’ll steer you towards your ideal drink, which will most likely be expertly mixed, creatively envisioned and packing a flavourful punch. There’s a decent selection of wines and beers, not to mention nibbles, as well.
