One of the funkiest nightclubs in Milan, Juiss (formerly The Black) sounds like a rather undiplomatic aim at the black music market. And it’s a good shot: once inside, this could be the Bronx – or Senegal, since it’s bustin’ with Milan’s superfly Senegalese community, blinging with big chains, shiny tracksuits, Snoop plaits and fat cigars.
rnAnd of course there’s music to suit – R&B, hip-hop, rap and nu-soul. Things start off nice and easy with R&B, and crescendo into shithop (commercial hip-hop) – it’s more crowd-pleasing than cutting edge here.
rnRun by Maurizio the Black (white guy) in an old cinema, its leopard-print walls are punched with industrial circular lights, resembling a giant game of Connect Four gone mad (despite being styled on Studio 54 – although certainly its leopard couches look like they’ve seen some action). Bizarrely, Sunday is gay night with house music.
