Hg2 : The Hedonist

Townhouse Galleria

When Town House Galleria opened its doors in December 2006, it grabbed Milan’s luxury hotels market by its lapels and shamelessly shook it up to the next level of decadence. Boasting (an almost unbelievable) seven stars, it tops Prada’s flagship store in the 19th-century Galleria Vittorio Emanuele. It’s equidistant from the Duomo and La Scala and an easy walk to boutique heaven along the quadrilatero d’oro, even wearing your highest pair of studded stilettos. All 25 rooms are duplex suites – guests are queried as to how they’d like the loft area furnished (office? gym? children’s playroom?) when booking. The maximum in subtlety and privacy – entry is via a personalized access code – all rooms come with a dedicated butler (although not actually in the room, you understand), on call to cater to guests’ whims at any hour. With chef Giacomo Gaspari drumming up sublime Ayurvedic cuisine suited to your dosha (expect a quiz upon arrival) and a pack of business cards (your name, Town House Galleria address) waiting for you on the nightstand, the only thing that may shorten your stay is the megabill hovering on the horizon.
