Bicerin Milano
Bicerin Milano is a veritable temple to wine. Or rather two temples, as it’s both a wine bar and a shop. Founders and friends Silvia Amoni, Alberto Gugliada and Lorenzo Viola established Bicerin Milano as a labour of love; wine is their passion, and it shows. That’s why many of the bottles you’ll find aren’t necessarily the big, flashy brands. Here, it’s about smaller producers who love wine as much as the founders do.
The Wineroom, populated with comfy yet stylish armchairs, sofas, and stools, offers an elegant place to sample that day’s suggested wine, or to peruse the extensive bottles on offer. And it truly is extensive. There are around 800 labels in their cellar at any one time, encompassing local and international vintages. There’s also a menu of small bites, like tomato tartlets or fish terrines from Normandy, which often pair fantastically. Or at least definitely satisfy both sweet and savoury cravings.
The wine shop, or enoteca, meanwhile, has around 600 bottles on offer, and the assistance of talented staff to help visitors navigate the selection. As accomplished helping wine lovers stock their cellars as they are in finding the perfect bottle to bring to a dinner party, the folks at Bicerin Milano really know their stuff. And should your tastes run towards the liqueur end of the spectrum, there’s a curated assortment of Sherry, Port, Marsala, and Madeira to enjoy.
