Piccolo Teatro Strehler
Being the more classical of theatres in Milan, the modern redbrick landmark is named in honour of the late Giorgio Strehler. It holds 1,000 people and specialises in opera, Shakespeare productions and costumed epics. The foyer is home to a mini theatre-in-a-theatre, the Scatola Magica (‘Magic Box’), which can hold around 80 people. Works in the Teatro Grassi, a sister theatre five minutes down the road on Via Rovello, are more contemporary in scope.
