This is undoubtedly one of the coolest venues in Moscow, popular with the hip intellects of the city.
rnBookafe comprises three rooms, each with the same design but in a different primary colour – red, blue or yellow. Designed by ‘Architectural Bureau 69’, who were also responsible for Goa (see Eat), it has modern, minimalistic and retro furniture, and along the walls of each of its three rooms are book shelves, with coffee-table books for you to browse through and even buy.
rnSubjects range from architecture, interior design and art to travel and reference, but all contain beautiful photographs, and are interesting to flick through while sipping a glass of wine or waiting for your food.
rnThe primarily Italian menu is complemented by delicious sushi and an extensive cocktail list. In the evenings a DJ mixes funky lounge music and house tunes in a foot-tapping but unobtrusive way.
rnThe waiting staff are friendly and provide excellent service. Wi-fi connection and hookah pipes are available to help pass the time.
