The Baltschug Kempinski is one of our favourite hotels in Moscow. The service is as impeccable as you’d expect from the Kempinski brand, and this is the only
Moscow hotel to be included in the ‘Leading Hotels of the World’
The unique selling-point of the Baltschug is its location on the south side of the Moscow River in Zamoskvorechie. The views of the Kremlin, Red Square and St Basil’s Cathedral are breathtaking, both during the long white summer nights and during the winter, when the river is frozen.
The 1898 façade hides a hotel of 232 rooms and suites, all stylishly decorated, and built around a daylight-flooded atrium – many enjoying views of the Moscow River. If you don’t fancy swimming in the river, and we don’t recommend it, there’s a pool.
There are three restaurants in the Baltschug worth trying: Cafe Kransler has a bistro-style menu with Mediterranean dishes and burgers. The more formal Baltschug Grill has an open grill kitchen, where guests can watch their steaks and seafood being cooked. Finally, the Wine Room offers the opportunity for sample some wonderful wines from around the world. They have also leapt on the Sunday Brunch trend and have a giant buffet spread complete with champagne.
