If you feel like leaving the frenetic pace of Moscow behind then visit the restaurant, Veranda u Dachi, which has now become an institution to smart Muscovites.

Located to the west of the city in an elite residential area of gated dachas and mansions, the restaurant has an air of exclusivity, and the ‘must-have’ accessory is a brace of bodyguards – just so you blend in!

The interior is a varied mix of styles, as are the rugs, lamps and cabinets (all for sale). The menu is predominantly Italian, with the inevitable sushi available, but one can also order traditional Russian food. In the oriental room you can partake in Chinese tea ceremonies or recline with a hookah pipe.

There is an attractive informality about this place and the service is friendly and efficient. Veranda is a great place to come for a leisurely Sunday lunch, where you can dine and watch people in comfort.
