When the city gets too damn warm, the hot and bothered come here for a cold Kingfisher to cool off. Known to everyone who’s ever visited as ‘Mondy’s’, this colourful, cartoon painted place, with it’s cute, non-stop jukebox -playing rock pop and jazz – and ketchup squeezy bottles on the tables, is a good, no-frills, antidote to Mumbai’s glitzy power pad bars.
Next door to the famous Regal Cinema in Colaba, Cafe Mondagar is where drinkers, should the need strike, to comfortably rock up wearing a pair of shorts and flip-flops – and fit right in. The bar is normally packed full with tourists, business people, backpackers, college kids all noshing on greasy onion rings, French fries and swilling pints. Informal and open ’til midnight, this is a laid-back, ‘one bar suits all’ sort of a place with fast, friendly service.
