Bademiya literally means ‘the old man’, which is cute and fitting given that this food stall is still standing strong after no less than 75 years. Perhaps the ultimate night spot for meat-lovers – the food is absolutely fresh and safe to eat and has a remarkably fast turn-over due to it’s popularity.
Come here for sheesh kebab, chicken tikka or even the curiously named ‘chicken leg piece’ all for around a dollar a dish. Grills and skewers create a nice smokey atmosphere all around it’s location, which is a handy position tucked just behind the Taj Hotel in Colaba.
As with anywhere in Mumbai with a solid reputation, it gets very busy here and you’ll probably find seating is a problem. The best way around this is to make friends with someone else in the queue and to share their car bonnet (if they have one) as this seems to be the done thing.
