At the Vivanta by Taj – President, one of our favourite hotels in the city, the Konkan Café boasts a fine selection of Indian delights from the western coast. In the style of a typical Mangalorean home, this restaurant offers rustic delights such as a fresh seafood display and open bread kitchen.
Prawn gassi, appams, and neer dosas are signature dishes – this being India, there are also some good veggie dishes too like the paneer bhurji. Banana leafed thaalis and Goan music complete the ambiance.
Expensive, but with plenty of sass, style and with utterly charming waiters, it’s worth every penny.rnOne last tip – if you want to escape the city and try some Konkan Coast food in a truly authentic setting, hire a car and a driver and set off on a road trip, hitting the coast, and the coconut-laced cuisine, all the way to Goa.
