With a killer location, just behind the Taj Mahal hotel at India Gate, this retro themed club has been packing them in for years now. It’s the place to come for a fun night out – less pretentious than many of it’s competitors, with a firm emphasis on having a good time. As is often the case in Mumbai’s clubs, expect an eclectic age-range from college kids to 50-somethings. rn
The décor is fairly standard, and quite school disco in some ways – just some flashing lights, DJ booth and maybe some dry ice if you’re lucky – but the service is friendly and there is a good mix of locals and tourists on any given night. The cocktail list is respectable, try a tropical ‘Love in Polly’s’, which is a bargain at 250Rs and combines vodka, crème de menthe, peach schnapps with pineapple juice, soda and sprite.
There’s nothing cutting-edge or fiercely fashionable about Polly Esther’s, but that’s the point. Just big tunes, big hair and probably a big hangover to follow.
