Hg2 : The Hedonist

Regal Cinema

To see a Bollywood smash hit here is a quintessential Mumbai experience. The Regal Cinema, the city’s first Art Deco-styled cinema in the heart of Colaba, is one of the few old style movie theatres still operating in Mumbai. The first film ever shown here was way back in 1933 with Laurel and Hardy’s The Devil’s Brother.

The original mirror-work interiors were designed by Czech artist Karl Schara while the main auditorium featured gaudy sun-rays in pale orange and jade green. Recently restored, it shows a mix of Hindi and English language films to an up-market audience.
