Checkpoint Charlie’s rocks 24/7. On the stage, bands make noise with a heavy rock beat. Between sets, a raft of pool tables keeps the bikers, hipsters, and off-duty strippers occupied. Checkpoint Charlie’s also serves burgers and bar food around the clock. If that’s not enough, you can even do your laundry here. After 4am, a mellow crowd of waiters and bartenders hang out at the long, dark bar. This is a hard-rocking stop on the Marigny music trail. If your tastes run more toward rock than jazz, you’ll want to join the crowd at Charlie’s. Most shows are free, and covers are never more than $5.
