Hg2 : The Hedonist

Creole Creamery

Creole Creamery brings the sensibility of an adventurous chef to the art of ice cream in this classic small-town ice cream parlour: happy families and hand-holding couples cool off with cones and cups. What classic parlour, however, scoops café au lait ice cream? Or honeydew ricotta? Or cucumber dill? And yes, cucumber dill does taste awful. The constantly changing flavours range from pretty good to brilliant, with the occasional complete misfire. More traditional flavours are always available, and the chocolate ice creams rarely disappoint. Sample first and ask the staff for suggestions. They tend to be brutally honest.

Recommended by Ralph Brennan, the man behind top New Orleans restaurants Ralph’s on the Park, café NOMA, café b and Jazz Kitchen.
