The Saint Hotel

With a beatific position in New Orleans’ French Quarter, The Saint Hotel is a boutique stay with a hefty style quotient. An alluring combination of naughty and nice, The Saint Hotel mixes stylistic features like high ceilings, natural light and sculptured renditions of cherubic innocence in the lobby, with the so-called “bordello chic” of the Burgundy Bar, which showcases performances of live jazz and burlesque. What else would you expect from a hotel with a seasonal, Southern restaurant named Tempt? The whole experience is essentially nothing short of saintly – if your idea of saintliness involves high heels and a feather boa, of course.

But for an assuredly anti-saintly experience, the Archangel Lucifer Suite is sinfully luxurious, with a claw-foot bathtub, a dance pole (with a disco ball mischievously twinkling above), and a hell-fire red colour palette; let’s just say the carpet matches the drapes. There are even huge prints of masked ladies and stockinged ankles looking down from the walls. The Deluxe rooms and the Archangel Michael Suite are altogether more ethereal offerings, with an elysian elegance manifested in its white and blue colour scheme, Murano crystal chandeliers, and, of course, the six-foot murals of saints on the walls. But even here, the Saint Hotel is true to sleek and cheeky form with just a hint of naughtiness in features like the white leather couches and mirrored headboards.
