Dick and Jenny’s

In a funky little cottage wedged between a busy street and a residential neighbourhood, Dick and Jenny’s puts a contemporary spin on classic New Orleans cuisine. Pecan-smoked Gulf fish fillets are topped with bacon and blue cheese. Iron skillet bronzed Gulf fish is served over macque choux, a local corn dish. It’s food you could only find in New Orleans, but only at Dick and Jenny’s is it made quite like this. Young couples and Uptown families pack the cosy dining room, decorated with hand-painted plates by Richard Benz, the original chef and owner. Don’t miss the homey but sophisticated desserts. Dick and Jenny’s doesn’t take reservations, but insiders know that a waiting list is kept for walk-ups. Stop by when the doors open at 5:30pm, put your name on the list for a specific time, and waltz right past the waiting crowds later in the evening.
