Mulate’s home base is in Breaux Bridge, the heart of Cajun country. The lively spot merits a day trip if you can swing it. The New Orleans Mulate’s, across from the Convention Center, gives excellent Cajun music (and often mediocre Cajun food) a foothold in the city. The venue puts an emphasis on providing a stage for up-and-coming Cajun bands. Zydeco music is constantly evolving, so you might hear some new sounds at Mulate’s. The music will be authentic. If you’ve never tried Cajun dancing, there is no reason to be shy. Get on the dance floor and move.
