The Rusty Knot
Man, Ken Friedman (Spotted Pig) owns the places to drink in New York these days, doesn’t he? More than anything, his brand of honest-to-goodness socialising – where you stuff your face with strong flavors, relax among quirky comforts, and drink heavily to the health of your neighbor – is exactly what New York wants and needs right now. Here on the West Side Highway, he has joined forces with Taavo Somer of hip dining destination Freeman’s to ply cool customers with cheap beer, a jukebox full of deep cuts, and (of course) a potent menu that includes meat pies, pretzel dogs, iceberg wedges, and Coca-Cola ribs. Ambiance hunters will either love or hate the wood-paneled walls, mounted prize fish, checkered floor, Grandma seating, and diner board.
