Hg2 : The Hedonist

Bar Pitti

This little West Village spot is a casual affair, with a rustic, scaled-down feel and sidewalk tables a plenty – all the better to gawk at the comings and goings of its patrons and the parade of strollers navigating to and fro from the West Village to SoHo and back again. And that’s exactly what chefs Mario Batali, Marc Meyer, and Eddy Leroux flagged it for: that (un)official New York City sport or sports, people watching.

The rustic, Tuscan dishes, though, are worthy of some attention, as well, like the savory spinach and ricotta ravioli drizzled with olive oil and bits of sage or the nightly specials scrawled on a chalkboard and brought to your table for quick examination. But although the prices are reasonable, make sure you’re flush with green, as Pitti will take no pity on you if you don’t bring the only acceptable method of payment here: cash.
