The London NYC
A formidable new contender in the high-end hotels gage in New York, this superbly conceived, 562-suite hotel – formerly the RIGHA Royal Hotel – brings together experts of design, service, gastronomy, and fitness to create a ritzy retreat you’d gladly move right into. Billed as the Manhattan pied-à-terre, The London’s pervasive sense of cool was orchestrated by interior design stand-out David Collins, who bestowed each room with limed oak parquet floors and custom designed the furniture, including rocking chairs and embossed-leather desks. (There is a bedchamber and a parlor space in each suite.) King-sized beds are topped with Fili D’Oro linens, and bathrooms were designed by bath company Waterworks – complete with rain shower heads, mosaic tiles, and the company’s signature apothecary products. Renowned concierge service Quintessentially does a superb job to tackle guests’ needs and desires. On the fourth floor, The London NYC Club is an urbanised fitness oasis, complete with state-of-the-art conditioning gear and a luxurious spa. And perhaps most impressive (because it certainly has been buzzworthy) is the arrival of superstar Brit chef Gordon Ramsay, who creates adventurous fare for the entire hotel, including at his eponymous, tiny but 2-Michelin-starred restaurant, as well as more recent addition MAZE by Gordon Ramsay – perfect for power lunching – and the marvelous small plates at The London Bar.
