Hg2 : The Hedonist

The Pierre

Taking up an entire block across from Central Park, one of the most decadent, deluxe hotels in New York City spares no expense to make guests feel privileged. Its 149 rooms, 40 suites, and 12 grand suites are decked out to dramatic proportions; it was designed to emulate the Palace of Versailles, and one could easily see Marie Antoinette holding court within its dark wood-accented confines. Formerly a Four Seasons property, now owned by Indian luxury chain Taj, the Pierre features a knowledgeable concierge and multilingual staff; two salons (Dominique on the first floor, Rene on the fourth); a 1,600-square-foot fitness center; luxurious spa services performed in private rooms; and several upper-crust dining options. Breakfast, lunch, and the Pierre’s fabled English afternoon tea take place in the dazzling Rotunda, while Café Pierre is a haute contemporary French eatery with a 10,000 bottle wine cellar. The Café Pierre Bar is great for hors d’oeuvres, snacks, cocktails, and wines by the glass.
