Cookshop
A noteworthy new option for dining our in New York’s West Chelsea – an area now well populated with art galleries, hotspots, run-off boutiques from the Meatpacking District, and arguably some of the most beautiful walking streets in the city – this sunny space takes its aesthetic cues from a country farmhouse and its culinary nods from its sister spot, Noho’s Five Points. Greenmarket, chemical-free ingredients and certified humane meats are prepared by methods of rotisserie, stone hearth, and grilling; stand-outs include house-cured Hudson Valley venison sausage, spice-crusted bigeye tuna with cranberry beans, Catskill duck breast with parsley root puree, or local baby chicken served with roasted carrots and maple butter-slathered cornbread. While very comforting, it’s not to be written off as comfort food. With an outdoor terrace that serves as a sun trap in summer and a bar, staffed by an attentive barman, where customers can simply perch pre-dinner for a cocktail, Cookshop is a welcome addition to the rapidly gentrifying area around 10th Avenue.
