It has the feel of an Umbrian get-away countryside farmhouse, with its simple wood furnishings, hanging copper and cast-iron pots, platters of fresh fruit, something mixologist Nick Mautone loves when he wants to get away from it all: “I always seem to run into somebody I know, but when I want to sneak away with my wife, it’s Il Buco on Bond Street.” The mostly Italian menu and simple European charm has made it a favourite of chefs like Marc Meyer and Jenkins, as does the daily-changing seasonally minded menu, house-made fresh pastas, and graciousness of owners Donna Lennard and Alberto Avalle.
