Hg2 : The Hedonist

SriPraPhai

From the outside, it sort of resembles the store front of a taxi-cab company, with its utilitarian vertical blinds half shading the large window facing Woodside’s 39th Avenue. But if you’re looking for real-deal Thai, like fried snapper piled up with slivers of mango, red onion, and cashews or chicken with green curry, and like a little adventure (which, if you’ve never ridden a 7 train to Queens, can feel a little like a Six Flags), take a tip from our chefs, like Buddakan’s Lon Symensma and Public’s Brad Farmerie who says, “Sit in the back garden and get the burn on. I got to the point where I couldn’t feel my face, which was just spicy enough,” or Bar Boulud’s Damian Sansonetti, who calls Sripraphai the “best Thai in NYC!!” But maybe the best compliment to the little Thai spot that could came from Counter’s GM Frank Cisneros: “I don’t even like Thai that much, but this place lives up to the hype.”
