Frenchie Bar à Vins
In order to taste the coveted food of chef Gregory Marchand it used to be that you had no option but make a reservation at his restaurant, Frenchie – a process that could take months. Until now that is.
The pocket-sized Frenchie Bar à Vins is just a stone’s throw away from the mother ship and, as well as having a truly excellent, border-crossing wine list, it’s got a menu that allows you to get a taste of the main restaurant. The best news? It works on a first-come-first served basis, meaning you’ve got as much chance as the next savvy diner of getting a seat. Once this happens you can work your way through the menu of small plates, some of which are identical to the main restaurant, while others unique to the bar – we recommend ordering several. The food is good looking, creative and original, characterised by the fresh, local ingredients and expert combinations and seasoning that you’d expect from a chef who was formally part of Jamie Oliver’s team in London. The atmosphere is bustling and unpretentious, always heaving with a crowd of neighbourhood locals, committed foodies and shrewd tourists in the know.
