Through no deliberate moves of its own, this down-at-heel bar, one of many on the rue de Clignancourt, has become hyperbranché, cited as a favourite by fashion editors and the like. Its mosaic floor tiles, plaster mouldings and nice-looking old classroom chairs have been adopted by cool kids, who flood in – and colonise the pavement outside – to socialise the night away. By day, with sunshine pouring in through the front windows, open to the street in summertime, it’s an appealing place to linger for a few hours, with the 18ème arrondissement beeping and hollering away outside; don’t forget your laptop. Drinks are cheap, and just ?10 will buy you a plate of andouillette grillée
and tarte aux pommes; they serve couscous every Thursday. On the whole, tons of fun.
