Colette Water Bar
Here, in lifestyle concept store Colette’s basement Water Bar, retail sluts collapse from nervous excitement at the beautifully laid-out designer must-haves upstairs. A large communal table and two rows of smaller tables are lit by strong halogen lights hanging low from red cords, illuminating the cool blue drinking glasses and orchids. As it is a ‘water bar’, rows of plastic water bottles line the back of the bar, facing the funky neon-lit illustration hanging on the wall. For the discerning water connoisseur 73 different brands are on offer, including the overpriced ‘Bling’, whose bottle has been customised with Swarovski crystals. Four Coca-Cola fridges (the more brands on show, the merrier) contain a choice of detox energy drinks, beers and designer smoothies. In keeping with the variety of brands stocked both in the shop and bar, the menu – which changes daily – is largely imported from other ‘designer’ eateries; the salads come from the Rose Bakery and the cakes from Ladurée.
