Hotel Particulier Montmartre
This hard-to-find Directoire-style townhouse is beyond cool; it’s a work of art, and all the more prestigious for having just five suites, each designed by a different contemporary artist. Once you’ve checked out the conceptual art and interactive installations (less futuristic, more psychological), you can simply luxuriate in the space, comfort and undeniable charm. It’s all enviable: the lobby/bar with its fashion/design library and mid-century modern chairs; the priceless 600sq/m garden, designed by Louis Benech of Tuileries fame; the century-old petanque piste; the toney location. Basically, any hotel that plays Bach cello suites in the bar, and calls its suites things like ‘Tree With Ears’ and ‘Curtain of Hair’ is fine by us.
