La Cantine du Faubourg
La Cantine du Faubourg’s large space is cleverly broken up with white curtains and eye-catching projection screens. The crowd, predominantly a super trendy mix of models, sports stars and media wannabes, pack the banquettes as the constantly changing light flickers around them, no change then from the waiting paparazzi outside. A DJ-booth adjoining the bar spins out languid trip-hop beats, becoming a little less ‘lounge’ and a little more house as the evening progresses. A special white-tiled room, somewhat reminiscent of a morgue, acts as a funky and original VIP room or room for hire. The modern French menu offers an array of fusion starters contrasting with more traditional entrees – ‘le rosbeef avec mash’ as well as seasonal specials. If you don’t succumb to the menu you can simply hang by the bar surreptitiously people-watching over the rim of your oh-so-strong martini.
