Roller Location Nomade
Rent some skates from Roller Location Nomade and see the city in a whole new way. The tremendous Friday night street skate organised by Pari-Roller (www. pari-roller.com) regularly sees 15,000 rollerbladers gliding communally round the city for three hours, setting off from place Raoul Dautry, near the Tour Montparnasse, at 10pm. The skill and speed of those taking part are impressive so, honestly, don’t bother unless you’ve got the moves. There are marshals and a police escort but it’s free to take part unless you want to pay a subscription that includes insurance. During the day on Sundays, there’s a more relaxed skate run by Rollers et Coquillages (www.rollers-coquillages.org). Alternatively, the stretch of the Left Bank from the Musee d’Orsay to the Eiffel Tower is blader central on Sundays between 9am and 5pm, when it’s closed to traffic.
