AghaRTA Jazz Centrum
Located close to Old Town Square, AghaRTA is one of the more considered and well-placed jazz spots, providing live music in Prague. Opened by the owners of the well-known ARTA record label, the club was born the day after Miles Davis died (28 September 1991), and is named after one of his albums.
The wonderful exposed brickwork cellar hosts the most varied and impressive line-up in the city, rotating local jazz, fusion, blues, modern jazz and soul bands with the odd international guest. The bar serves great coffee and carries on the Davis tributes with drinks titled ‘Bitches’ Brew’ and ‘Blue In Green’ – there is even a dedicated record shop on site.
AghaRTA have also been running a high-profile annual jazz festival since 1992 that’s still going strong. Concerts start at 9pm; check the website for details of all the events.
