Hg2 : The Hedonist

Zlata Hvezda

Zlatá Hvezda (‘Golden Star’), an imposing building with 24 rooms and
two apartments, is one of Prague’s hotels which offers some of the best
panoramas from its perch at the top of Nerudova, on the way up to the
Castle.

In the 14th century it belonged to the mayor of Prague, and after passing through many private ownerships, opened to the public in May 2000. Original architectural features remain intact and the design of the hotel has highlighted many of the key aspects of the space while managing to incorporate a modern standard of comfort.

The rooms are very relaxing and the reproduction furniture combines well with the architecture, helped along by an ethic of simple wooden floors and light walls. A sizeable restaurant on the ground floor (with a terrace situated on the street) affords views of the tourist-filled but nonetheless picturesque area.

Although its charm and affability are not in question, the location up the hill might be a hike too far for some.
