As anyone who’s shopped in a real butcher shop knows, if you want to know how to cook a piece of meat properly, it’s the butcher you want to ask. That’s why Naše Maso is a triple threat – not only can you buy local, high quality meat here and ask the butcher how best to prepare it, but you can eat in the shop as well and learn directly from the masters. The “restaurant”, which is within the shop itself, operates from Monday to Wednesday from 7pm until the shop closes at 10pm. But that’s more than enough time to sample the delicious food on offer. Spread over several courses, the meal showcases the skills of the butchers, serving up familiar cuts in clever, often non-traditional ways. There might be roasted bone marrow or steak tartare (prepared using their secret ingredient), or cuts from a Přeštice Black-Pied pig. Maybe pork scratchings or even edible candles that you can dip your hunk of fresh bread into.
The shop itself is a wonderland of wonderful meatstuffs that you could lose plenty of time browsing in. You can buy aged Czech piebald beef and meats that they’ve smoked themselves. You can even grab stocks, spices, oils and bouillons if you want to give your store cupboard an upgrade as well as your fridge. And if you’re hungry, the folks at Naše Maso will be happy to whip you up something on the grill, whether that’s a hot dog, burger, or one of their daily specials, like a pulled pork sandwich. Basically, Naše Maso is your one stop shop for all things gloriously meaty. And it’s pretty to boot, all gleaming white tiles and glass with some warm wooden accents thrown in for good measure.
