Another of the theatres in Prague the Estates Theatre, most famous for hosting the world première of Mozart’s Don Giovanni, conducted by the man himself.
rnIts elegant façade forms the backdrop to Rytírská street, with its classical columns and ornate pediments. Inside, the blue and gold interior is stunning and relatively small, so the performances seem far more intimate than those in other venues of the same stature. Events alternate between theatre and opera, the latter inevitably featuring Mozart.
rnTickets can be bought at the entrance for forthcoming performances or for that night, as well as from the National Theatre box office on Národní. If you can, book your tickets before you travel to Prague; it’s well worth getting a box.
